Find the evidence behind the next project decision.

Useful research retains the source, date, metric, unit and scope of each finding. This collection brings Australian project evidence, international mechanisms and assessment methods together. (Internal research locator: public evidence not yet verified) Retain facility location and operating status when comparing assets; a national resource estimate cannot establish a particular supply catchment.

Find the right evidence

Search by pathway, resource, project, country and publisher. Distinguish operator records, technical studies, provider claims and Shelby scenarios.

Keep updates traceable

Retain period, source version and limitations. Where a record changes, update affected pages and state the new basis rather than silently relabelling an old figure as current.

Choosing reliable sources

Prefer primary sources: government agencies, regulators, funders’ project reports and peer-reviewed research. Note the date, geography and method of each figure. Industry estimates and media reports are useful for context but should be confirmed before use in a model. Recording the source alongside every number makes later updates straightforward.

Use an evidence hierarchy

Prefer current primary records from operators, regulators and program administrators. Label industry studies, supplier material and consultation proposals by source and date, then distinguish observed operation from modelled potential. Record definitions and boundaries beside every figure. When sources conflict, retain the difference and explain what a project team must verify instead of selecting the most favourable number.

Frequently asked questions

Does a source review date update the underlying data?

No. Review date and data period are different fields.

How often is the research updated?

Pages show when evidence was last reviewed and the date of each source. Underlying data changes on each publisher's schedule, so the source date, not the review date, describes the data period.

Can I suggest a correction or new source?

Yes. Use the correction option in the asset explorer or the enquiry form. Suggestions are reviewed before any change is published.
