Important distinction
Teacher school programs are not the same as formal instructor certification. The school pathway focuses on practical classroom tools; the training cluster can support future certification.
Frequently asked questions
Is this full yoga teacher training?
No. The teacher school programs are practical professional development and classroom implementation sessions. Formal children's yoga instructor certification is handled separately under the training pathway.
Can teachers use the tools after the session?
Yes. Teacher training is designed to provide simple repeatable tools such as breathing breaks, movement pauses, classroom reset routines and age-appropriate language.
Can this count as professional development?
The program can be structured as professional learning. Use NESA-aligned language unless and until formal recognition or provider status is confirmed.

Yoga for teachers, workload, recovery and the classroom carry-over
Shelby Yoga runs three things for staff: short wellbeing sessions delivered on site during staff meetings or after school, professional development that teaches staff to run their own two-minute classroom resets, and full teacher wellbeing workshops for staff development days.
Teacher wellbeing programs fail for a predictable reason: they add another thing to the week. A 6pm yoga class after a parent-teacher night is a nice idea that nobody attends twice.
So we build around the timetable that already exists. A 30-minute session slotted into the front of a staff meeting gets full attendance. A twilight workshop on a development day reaches everyone without asking for personal time. And the professional development option is deliberately designed to be self-sufficient, staff leave able to run a two-minute reset with their own class, which means the benefit continues after our instructor has gone.
The part schools underestimate is the classroom effect. Teachers who have a reliable way to reset their own nervous system between a difficult playground incident and the next lesson report fewer escalations in the hour that follows. That is a behaviour-management outcome as much as a wellbeing one, and it is usually what convinces an executive team to fund a second block.
Sessions are available across Sydney in person and live online for regional schools, and can be booked standalone or alongside a student program.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a staff session?
Thirty minutes is the standard slot and fits inside a staff meeting. Development-day workshops run 60 or 90 minutes and include the practical reset training.
Do staff need to change clothes or bring anything?
No. Staff sessions are designed to be done in work clothes, seated and standing sequences, no floor work unless the group wants it.
Can this count as professional learning?
The professional development option is structured as practical training staff can apply in class. Whether it is recorded against accredited hours is your school's decision under its own PL policy.
What group size works best?
Up to 25 for a workshop where everyone gets individual adjustment. Whole-staff sessions of 40–60 work well when the focus is breathing and seated practice rather than movement.
Can we run this for a single faculty or stage team?
Yes, and smaller groups usually get more out of it. Stage teams often book a short block across a term rather than a single whole-staff session.
